The Style Project 2016 – January’s Hints!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

I’m sure you’ve all heard of #TheStyleProject run by Katy of Modern Mummy, Carissa from Little Likely Lads and Kara who writes Innocent Charms Chats! It started when Katy wanted to encourage people to get their style groove on for a ‘new year’ and ‘new them’ a couple of year’s ago and has grown and grown.

The girl’s provide a hint for every day of the month which can then be interpretted any which way’s your flavour and to join in you simply post a picture of your day’s style with the hint as inspiration and include the hashtag. It’s great to see how everyone finds a different way to use the hints and really encouraging too! Taking part can just lift your day a little, and give you the gusto to make a small change to your appearance that might just make you feel grand!

And… The fashionista trio have asked me to join the team for 2016 so from now on in I too shall be helping create #TheStyleProject every month. This just proves that ANYONE can take part. If I can then YOU absolutely can too!

January is a great month to make changes and start to get the appearance we want but there’s a lot of pressure when it comes to diets, fitness programmes and big promises of change. Joining in with the project however is easy, free and doesn’t have to be a challenge to do daily. Join in for every tip by all means or dip in and out as you feel best suits. I know in the past when I’ve joined in it’s been super fun and made me think a little bit about what I’m going to wear that day which in turn has lifted the way I feel about myself. So, without further a do, here are the hints for January. A brand new year and some brand new hints!

I don’t know about you but after Christmas and all the excessive eating (which is STILL going on in my house) I don’t much feel great about getting dressed up. I know I’ve eaten and drunk too much and have some gym time to put in before I get excited about wearing my favourite clothes so I tend to just dress up things I feel comfortable in with accessories. I LOVE a good accessory to make myself feel fabulous and here are my top ten for right now!

  1. I adore a head piece and the Laura Crystal head chain (£19.99) from Accessorize is just up my street! It screams winter glamour for me and although it might not be quite right for the school run I’d absolutely wear this to the pub with just my jeans to brighten up the January blues one evening!
  2. The Angel Metal and Feather statement necklace from Boohoo.com is a snip for the purse strings at £8 and can dress up a jumper dress beautifully!
  3. I adore Asos for their fast delivery and easy returns policy and their jewellery is awesome too! The Made Fungua Cuff (£30) would see me through the winter and out the other side to festival season!
  4. The next three items are all from the new items at Alex Monroe, one of my fast becoming favourite jewellery designers. I adore the signature Bumblebee necklace but I could literally have ANYTHING from the site and be pleased with it, especially the Bycicle Made For two necklace (£210).
  5. Mouse and Diamond Ring (150), Alex Monroe.
  6. Little Daisy Ring (£135), Alex Monroe.
  7. And while the last three items are of the pricey variety, the next three, from Wild & Wolf at John Lewis, are all VERY inexpensive and yet fab pieces! Retro school style badges with messages that give a little wink! The Drinks Monitor Badge (£3.99) is my fave but I also love 8 & 9!
  8. Dancing Queen Badge (£3.99), Wild & Wolf at John Lewis.
  9. Gorgeous Badge (£3.99), Wild & Wolf at John Lewis.
  10. The Mongolian Shearling Stole (75.00) from Top Shop is simply divine! A little bit Cruella Deville but I LOVE it and it’s perfect for this time of year!
