Miele Dinners In Disguise!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

My Mum has a Miele vacuum cleaner and she absolutely loves it. It was quite expensive but she’s had it for years and is still just as pleased with it as she always was. Top Quality appliances do come with a top quality price tag but then as the age old saying goes, you get what you pay for!

I haven’t actually got any Miele appliances and it might be why my oven needs a new element, my fridge freezer is hanging on by a thread and the washing machine has recently been replaced. We are converting our loft and knocking our current kitchen into our current bedroom to make a big kitchen diner and I’d love to get some top quality appliances instead of the cheap and not so good alternatives we have now. And after today, where I have had a bit more of a personal introduction to some Miele products, I definitely have some of them in my sights!

We were invited to a ‘Dinners in Disguise’ event at Miele’s London HQ and there we were cooked up a storm of healthy treats cooked in a Miele steam oven. Little pizzas with cauliflower bases instead of bread, meatballs with vegetable spaghetti (I’m a big fan of courgetti myself) and even a chocolate mousse which was completely dairy free and made with a very special ingredient indeed!

Firstly we were served up little red velvet cup cakes coloured with beetroot and steamed to perfection for moist and unctuos tasting. We popped our chef's hats and aprons on and got decorating!

The idea of the day was to show that food can be yummy but healthy and when cooked in a steam oven it really does have that extra special taste. Vegetables don’t lose any of their goodness and it shows in the brightness of the colours. The ovens are amazing and it doesn’t matter if you cook one egg or 60 eggs they cook in the same time and it’s so quick! LOVE it!

The children, my fussy children, weren’t terribly fooled by the things they don’t like although they both love most vegetables so I’m not too worried and I thought everything was utterly delicious. The thing they were both keen on (as was I) though, was that chocolate mousse! So what was the secret main ingredient? Would you believe it, avocado! It really is very good indeed. Fancy trying it? Here’s the recipe!

I came away very impressed with Miele and love that you can go on courses to learn how to get the very best from their appliances. And we also came away with little Miele vacuum cleaners for the children to play with. They are, in fact, exact replicas of the one my Mum has. We haven’t even put batteries in them yet but even so Florence and Jimmy have had loads of fun with them!

Thanks Miele for such a lovely morning and it was great to catch up with Kip and AK too!
