For the Easy Life — Handy Kitchen Ideas

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

Let’s face it: most mums spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and sometimes that gets old. It’s rarely the most efficient or enjoyable room in the house, and some kitchen appliances are just bulky and difficult to use.

My kitchen is small and I have to be careful about the gadgets I choose as we don’t have room for everything I would like. One thing I use all the time is my hand held cake mixer which I bought in Tesco for £5 years ago. It still works brilliantly despite it being from their lower priced range and is worth every centimeter of space it takes up in my cupboard! The kitchen appliances at Tesco are definitely worth taking a look at and for now, here are a few handy ideas to make the time you spend in the kitchen a little bit more pleasant.

Digital timer

Most ovens have a basic timer on them, but sometimes you need something a little more accurate. Like your boiled eggs exactly right? A digital timer will allow you to time things to perfection, which is terrific whether you’re a perfectionist or even just easily distracted from the task at hand!

Good storage

It’s tempting to hang on to old plastic takeaway cartons to store leftovers, but nothing beats a good quality set of matching containers in varying sizes. They’ll stack neatly together in your cupboard when not in use, and they’ll keep your food fresh for longer.

Space-saving appliances

Sometimes it’s difficult to save space in the kitchen, with all the large appliances crammed into one room: oven, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer and others. To save space, consider buying combination appliances: a washer dryer, a fridge freezer, and a compact dishwasher can save you acres of space!

Slow cooker

Who doesn’t want their dinner ready and waiting when they get home at the end of a busy day? A slow cooker is a winter necessity: pop your ingredients into the cooker at the beginning of the day, switch it on, and when you get home it’s all ready to eat. Perfect!

Fold away furniture

If you’re really short of space but want a dining area in our kitchen, a fold away breakfast bar or an extendable dining table is the answer to your prayers! It’ll save space but allow you to have that extra surface whenever you need it.

There are all sorts of excellent kitchen gadgets, furnishing and appliances to fit around every size and shape of kitchen. Work with a designer, or do it all yourself — either way, with the right research you’ll find exactly what you need!
