Floppets – A Review!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

I think I might just have nurtured a new craze for my little one! Floppet, I think I might just have nurtured a new craze for me too!

Florence has just started nursery and every morning she chooses one of her many bags (she’s her mother’s daughter) to take with her; filled with spare clothes, a hat for if it gets cold and more often than not a toy… Just last week she took her watch in her bag and lo and behold she came back without it… She’s only three and doesn’t really understand that if you take a toy to nursery and don’t put it back in your bag to come home again that it will probably be lost forever. But… she, like lots of her friend’s, seems hell-bent on taking SOMETHING into school with her.

Well, I’ve found the answer I think and it comes in the form of a Floppet! A what I hear you say? A Floppet I tell you! Floppets are quite literally going to be the new ‘must have’ for little ones to adorn their bags, clothes, shoes, whatever really!

Floppets come from Floptopia (stick with me now, you’ll understand in a minute) and they are little characters on a piece of velcro. Quite simple really but they can be used for so much, so many things and I can completely see why children everywhere are falling in love with them. Their velcro strap can be attached to, well, anything you like really. For Florence they’ll be a great little accessory for her bag but you can also wear them as a bracelet, a ring, pop them on your flip-flops, shoe laces or even your clothes! As soon as Florence saw them in the kitchen where I’d left our review samples, she came running in saying ‘Are these for me?!’ I knew instantly they were a hit!

They’ve been taking the US by storm and now they’re in the UK and being sold at The Entertainer toy shop. I can certainly see why these have been such a craze in the states and I know exactly why they will be just the same here! Put yourself in a child’s mind for a second. They are inexpensive but so much fun! There are loads to collect and you could spend hours on the play ground negotiating and swapping with your friends.

This is exactly what children will enjoy and even at three I know Florence is right on it and wants one! They’re on sale in The Entertainer right now and Between 21st March and 17th April, The Entertainer will run a ‘Find the Floppet’ competition in stores. During this period, store staff will wear Floppets and entrants to the treasure hunt style competition can win a variety of prizes, including a complete set of Floppets. The next phase of marketing activity will roll out across all stores over May half term from 25th May until 15th June with the launch of a ‘Design your own Floppet’ competition. Every entrant will be given a limited edition ‘The Entertainer Floppet’, and the winning entry will see their design go into production and become the next Floppet to join the collection. Store staff will be trained on the Floppets range so they can talk with parents and children about incorporating them in creative play.

What a great idea, just wish I’d thought of it myself and it certainly solves the problem of what to take into school – attached to a school bag they will come home again at the end of the day but still get to go to school with them in the first place!

Floppet Friends! Brilliant idea for tots to teens!

I have not been paid to write this post but I did receive some Floppets for the purpose of review!
