CBeebies Live! The Big Band – A Review!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

This weekend just gone CBeebies Live! The Big Band had its stint in London as part of its Easter tour around the country. We were lucky enough to get to see it yesterday morning and it was AWESOME! Even Rock ‘n’ Roller Daddy, who had said it was one of the things he was least looking forward to over the break (spoil sport) had a fantastic time and came away saying what a fab show it was!

A clever story line sees some of our favourite CBeebies stars and characters join together to find recruits for the biggest band EVER! The show is high energy with full of singing, dancing and opportunities for the audience to get out of their seats and dance along! We LOVED it!

Florence and Jimmy with Daddy as we eagerly awaited the start of the show which was still very entertaining with Alex Winters on the big screen keeping us informed and providing comedy pre show!

And then it started and we got to see WHO from CBeebies HQ was in the building! Florence had rather hoped Topsy and Tim might be in the show (it’s a current fave) but we were absolutely NOT disappointed with the fact that they weren’t because who was, more than made it brilliant!

First up Katy Ashworth! Now we LOVE Katy so much that we even chose to have an ‘I Can Cook’ birthday party last birthday for Florence (see here). She is definitely our personal CBeebies fave and it has to be said, and we’re not biased, she was the best! She’s a natural performer and her singing and dancing was superb!

Next, Andy Day who was throwing out some pretty dazzling moves for someone with such long lims and Nina (we sing her theme song when we brush our teeth) were joined by Rasta Mouse and the ZingZillas!

Then of course the three Misters! Mr Bloom (the Mum’s choice I’ve noticed), Mister Maker (we loved hearing him shout ‘Hello Wembley’ and Where would any CBeebies show be without the ever fantastic Mr Tumble! Justin was brill! As you’d expect. The man is some sort of children’s entertaining genius isn’t he. And the way he is with children, ALL children, but especially the way he communicates with children with a disability is quite simply mesmerising. He was wonderful (and the other two weren’t bad either of course)!

Mr Bloom again (am beginning to wonder if the photographer was a lady), Nina and Justin!

The show sees all the CBeebies lot in search of band members and with some truly awesome guitar playing, saxophone blowing, drumming and tinkling of the ivories they manage it! Rock ‘n’ Roller Daddy, a musician himself, was really impressed with the fact the band were REALLY playing and playing so well!

It was such a great show, we had so much fun and when we left we felt a bit exhausted with all the smiling, singing and dancing!

It’s a great show which is hand on heart enjoyable for the whole family and worth every penny of the entry price! My only down side to any of these things is that the merchandise is SO super expensive and they kind of have you over a barrel. We did buy alight up wand because everyone else had one and I didn’t want Florence and Jimmy to feel left out but at £8 I made them share one which isn’t ideal. It’s a personal bug bear of mine at all events and I think a profit could still be made if they sold them at a more realistic to all budget price!

So, the tour is on going until the end of Easter and if you happen to be in Glasgow, Newcastle, Nottingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Liverpool, Birmingham or Sheffield then you’re in luck! You can still catch the show but the last one is on 19th April 2014 so hurry and book now!

Please see www.cbeebieslive.com for all information including prices, venues, dates and bookings.

I was provided a family ticket for the purpose of an honest review.
