Stokke Steps Chair – Our First Impressions!

We went to the Stokke Steps chair launch unveiling a while back and Jimmy literally wouldn’t get out of it!

The ‘Steps’ is a little bit similar to the iconic Tripp Trapp chair of the same make and has lots of similar attributes; one being that it will take a child from birth to pretty much a fully grown adult (I mean I can sit in one and I know someone who has no children but has bought them because she loves them just for her and her boyfriend to use). You buy the basic chair then top it up with pieces depending on the age of your child.

The Steps is just a different looking option to the Tripp Trapp but offers similar and just like the Tripp Trapp is a bit of an investment piece really. They are fairly pricey granted but you only need to buy it once to last an awfully long time and take you through the many different development stages of your child!

Take a look at what it can do…

Like I mentioned, Jimmy just loved it at the launch and was very keen to stay put while everyone looked at the chair! He’s not generally keen on being in a high chair but I think this is a touch different because it is essentially just another chair to have around the dining table and not particularly segregating for the child. Not that this was implemented at the launch of course, I can only assume he liked everyone looking at him and has a bit of the performer in him – I can’t think WHO he takes after… (cough)!

But at home, where he has also been keen on sitting in the chair rather than escaping from it at the first available opportunity as his his usual wont, I can only assume it’s because the chair is making him feel part of things!

We have been using it, for a little while now, at my Mum’s because we don’t have a dining table at home. I have a tray to make it into a more traditional high chair and will be using it as that in my proper review to come shortly but I wanted to see how he liked sitting up at the table with all of us as well and he seems to be enjoying it very much actually!

The straps are very well placed and although he can get his arms out (he is a skinny minnie and can get his arms out of EVERY straps I’ve tried as could Florence) he can’t seem to get his legs out and hasn’t even really tried!

The harness is pretty ace and I love how quick it is to do up and release!

I’ve so much more to tell you about the ‘Steps’ and I will when I write my proper review. I’ll talk about all of it including the tray as I mentioned before and the brilliant cushions! For now though I’ll just say this, if you have two children, you’re going to need two chairs! Florence has also taken a rather BIG shine to it. The actual chair on its own is a very reasonable price and you would more than likely only need one lot of the other components as older children will grow out of them… I am definitely thinking about buying a second for us because we all really, really like it! Also helps that it looks fab!

Florence rather likes sitting in the chair too!

Luckily the Baby Set which takes it from chair to harnessed seat is easy to pop on and off and they can both use it. Just not together…

Or perhaps I’m wrong on that front… Told you they’re skinnie minnies!

So our first impressions of the Stokke Steps are pretty darn great! Both the children love being in it, it looks wonderful and I’m seriously thinking about buying another one… But I’ll be back to let you know more and in more detail soon!

I was sent the Stokke Steps chair for the purpose of an honest review.
