Philips Sonicare Electric Toothbrush For children!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

When Florence was born we had the Philips Avent Microwave Steam Steriliser and I used their manual breast pump daily too; despite her never ever taking any expressed milk!

When Jimmy was born I again used Avent products and this time got to try out their new style manual pump (which was my favourite of all the pumps I used) and also the electric steriliser which I have only just put away recently!

Jimmy had Avent dummies (when he sucked them and before he decided to be a monkey about sleeping) and he still drinks from Avent bottles which are so much better since they’ve been re designed. I’m told in their factory you can see them go from just a ball of plastic into the clever bottle design in minutes! I say clever because they really are very well thought out and the best I’ve ever used!

It’s not just tiny ones that Philips make products for though, they also think about children as they grow and the new needs they find. The people at Philips Sonicare asked me if I’d like to come to the re-launch of their children’s electric toothbrush! The new design has made it 33% less expensive at the new price of £50 but that’s not all that’s new!

The new brush comes with customisable stickers so that the child can make it entirely their own.

It also lies flat to help little ones lie it down enabling them to apply their own toothpaste and is easy for little hands to hold!

It has two speed settings so that children can build themselves up to using an electric and it of course times them as well as alerting them to move positions by playing a tune. It’s easy to hold for children, there are two different brush head sizes and dental professionals say that cleaning with an electric toothbrush will remove 75% more plaque than a manual.

The new brush is aimed at children aged 4+ and should take them up to around age ten. You could quite easily use the same base for more than one child with them all having their own heads so really and truly can be very economical.

We were given one of the new brushes to try and Florence thought it was fab. She immediately couldn’t wait to use it because of the customising with stickers and it really made her interested. They say the stickers are to help them ‘own their toothbrush’ and become responsible and it definitely sparked an interest in her.

She really liked the brush (although would have preferred it to have not had a blue base – she is a stereotypical girl and prefers pink for everything – if we’d bought it we would have definitely purchased pink) and enjoyed the sticking to begin with. Owning her toothbrush and having decorated it she wanted to brush straight away but we waited until after bath time.

Florence really liked the fact that she could be grown up and apply her own toothpaste and got to brushing straight away.

She was a little shocked with the buzzing and asked me to make it stop. I think it was a sensation she hadn’t expected but we are slowly building up to it and she is getting more used to the feeling. I help her and guide her but she’s pretty independent and isn’t all that keen on help so at least when it’s buzzing I know it’s cleaning better than she would on her own.

Jimmy has also been very intrigued by the brush. He came with me to the party to enjoy some afternoon tea and cakes (‘one more cake’ was the line he said the entire time we were there making me cringe in front of the dental expert who probably thinks I gave him too many sweet treats) so despite it being advised for 4+ I might let him have a go with my holding the brush so that it doesn’t jab him somewhere other than his teeth.

Jimmy enjoying ‘one more cake’ at the launch! Don’t worry he brushed his teeth when we got home!

Well if you were faced with this cake stand wouldn’t you just want one more too?!

A brush that Florence is pleased with if a little startled by but she’s getting used to it and as a fairly recent convert to the electric toothbrush myself I can’t help but think it’s a good thing for the children to have too as I know first hand how much cleaner my teeth feel from using one!

I think the brush is a good price and will be a fantastic hit but I have to say I’m not sure about the longevity of the stickers? It’s a nice idea to begin with but ours did come off after getting a bit wet and although they did stick back down again I can’t see them lasting. The main focus is however the brush and I think it’s perfect in every other way!

I was given a brush from the range for the purpose of an honest review.

  1. This electric toothbrush looks really great. I use an electric toothbrush and I really think that cleans my teeth as no other brush did. I will be happy to get one for my child! Thanks for the post!
