Sew Over It With GUMI!

A while back Florence, Jimmy and I went to a Teddy Bear’s picnic which we were invited to by GrowingUpMilkInfo.com. This is a site dedicated to giving information about toddler nutrition and gives expert advice for any worries you might have.

It also gives you lots of information about using formula for babies over 12 months. Now, I never use formula myself, either before or after 12 months as I breast feed but I’ve found the site quite useful for information regarding vitamins and also the blog is very interesting too with topical posts for Mums!

We had such fun at the Teddy Bear’s picnic and when they invited me back for another fun afternoon this weekend, one which this time was just for us Mum’s I immediately accepted! The invite said ‘Come to ‘Sew Over It‘ for a crafty afternoon with cake’. Now I’m not silly, I read the word cake, of course I accepted! I’m also rather partial to a bit of craft so it sounded like a perfect Saturday afternoon to me!

GUMI wanted to chat to us over a cup of tea and some sewing and find out what we like and don’t like about their site. They really want to make it as interesting and relative as possible and I was honoured to be asked for my opinion. It was a great afternoon and I hope the guys got all the info they wanted and we were able to help them because we certainly all had fun crafting!

I love craft but am not a natural sewer. Luckily, Lisa who owns ‘Sew Over It’ in Clapham and has even been on television crafting with Kirsty Allsopp, was on hand to help and I somehow managed to produce a Tote bag witha floral Union Jack on it. Florence loves the ‘Jubilee’ which is what she calls the flag and I made it for her!

Lisa was on hand to help which was pretty useful for me!

I’ve never used a sewing machine before and I quite liked it although I didn’t do much because it was quite scary! Instead I used Wonderweb for the majority which you just iron on!

She helped me make my floral Union Jack (or ‘Jubilee’ as we all in our house call it now) bag!

‘Sew It Over’ is a bit of a treasure cave of all things beautiful! No wonder crafty queen Kirsty wants to work with Lisa for her shows! It’s a cafe, classroom, party venue and shop all rolled into one! I think it’s fabulous and would love to take a proper class and learn how to make an actual dress!

‘Sew Over It’ is a treasure chest of lovely things! I loved the buttons which you can cover with material, they were super easy and look brilliant!

I was lucky enough to get to spend the day with lots of other lovely bloggers and we all had a great afternoon. My good friend Alice from An Essex Wife made some gorgeous looking owls on her bag and Natalie from Style Me Sunday’s patchwork bag was utterly brilliant! It’s always lovely to bump into Sammy from One Blue One Pink and the butterfly embellishments on her bag were great while it was fab to meet some new faces too, Penny from Being Mrs C and Louise from A Stong Coffee were great to discuss having boys with and also made some pretty beautiful bags!

And Florence is very pleased with her bag!

Thanks for a fun afternoon GUMI!

I was not paid to write this post but I was asked to ‘Sew Over It’ in Clapham for a fun crafty afternoon with no obligations.

  1. It was lovely to meet you and to be reassured that boys are very different to girls .I didn’t realise that you hadn’t used a sewing machine before, you seemed to know exactly what you were doing and made such a great bag! xx
