Bear Hunt!

We’re going on a bear hunt. We’re going to catch a big one. What a beautiful day!

When we got back from holiday recently my facebook time line was filled with pictures of our friends in our local park. While we were away it seems that chainsaw and blow torch artists have visited our play space and created the most amazing installations using tree stumps and logs. Owls hooting in trees, a snake, snails, funny faces and even a bear stuck in a log! It looked awesome so we just HAD to go and see for ourselves the amazing creations that had arrived. I’d seen pictures of the bear so I thought we would make it a ‘going on a bear hunt’ day and have an exploring adventure in a space we know well with new things to discover!

We took our little friend E with us, no bear hunt is complete without a friend or two, and off we went… We got to the park and although I had a scan of the area and could see where the new pieces were hidden, the children didn’t immediately notice so went straight to the play ground. We let them play for a bit before Florence remembered and asked ‘Are we going on a bear hunt now?

Fun on the swings with our friend E before we remembered there was a bear hunt to be had!

Off we went round the edge of the park for an explore and guess what we found?! All sorts of exciting creations that made us gasp with pleasure! Imagine these brilliant giant art pieces to climb on just in our local park, it was very exciting!

Very clever artists have created some very interesting pieces in the park!

It’s a bit like ‘The Gruffalo’ Florence said as there was a fox, snake and owl but it wasn’t the Gruffalo we were searching for… We were on a bear hunt remember! Look who found the bear first!

Jimmy gave him a little poke of the nose to say hello!

And then it was time for a snack! A bear related snack of course! We didn’t really know what bears eat or if we wanted to eat what they eat anyway so we plumped for a Barny Bear snack instead!

Yummy, yummy!

When we were at the Lollibop Festival this summer we were introduced to Barny Bear snacks for the very first time. They are little individually wrapped bear shaped cakes with milk or chocolate flavour fillings and they’re YUM! We kept having to go past the people handing them out so that we could have another one and I don’t mean just the children! The cakes are not only delicious but they don’t contain anything nasty and have no artificial colours or preservatives which makes them ideal. And well, what better snack to have at the end of a bear hunt?

This post is an entry for BritMums ‘Little Adventures Challenge’ in partnership with Barny, the bear-shaped snack providing a little discovery in every bite. Find out more about Barny here.
