Lollibop Was Amazing in 2013 – Again!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

We’ve been lucky enough to have been bloggers for the Lollibop Festival for the past few years now and it just continues to get better and better. We had an absolutely superb weekend and as everything I have been writing about for the last few months became a reality, we enjoyed every single second!

Other people moaned about the queues but I have to say that with the festival being at capacity (15 THOUSAND PEOPLE) and queues for things like the face painting being no more than around 10 minutes, I don’t think you can complain about that! We got in early for ours but there was already a massive queue and we were in within a few minutes! I simply have nothing I could moan about, I really don’t! We had another wonderful year at the festival!

I think the reason it works is because they think of everything and true to their word, children are always the focus! From the moment you arrive and are offered a Kattoo tattoo to put on your little ones arms and write your phone number on it should they get lost, to people coming around with ponchos if it rains! You don’t have to think about anything other than having fun!

We chose, as per my ‘top tips’ post, a few things from the schedule that we absolutely didn’t want to miss and then we winged it for the rest of the time at the festival. We were very lucky that we got to attend twice so we learned from the first day that planning and trying to stick to a timetabled day doesn’t work. We had a great day both times but the first day was spent trying to run from place to places whereas the second visit was more relaxed and we actually saw and did more things!

Our highlight from the festival (aside from my sister meeting Dick and Dom) has to be seeing the Katie Ashworth show. Twice! She is amazing and even though heavily pregnant she was physical and super fun! I loved it when she made reference to the Mums fancying ‘Mr Bloom’ (not me by the way) and quipped ‘it’s not his’ as she clasped her blossoming baby bump!

Of course we also loved seeing Justin Fletcher on the main stage and if ever there was a true festival moment it was when he walked out on stage to the entire 15,000 strong crowd cheering his name! Every single person was mesmerised as he entertained us with songs and skits!

For me, the compere, Alex Winters who is also from CBeebies of course, was the star of the show. Milling about with the crowd and happy to chat when not on stage and working the crowd beautifully in a funny and engaging way when he was. Asking the audience to sit down was perfect and of course everyone complied, it was CBeebies Alex! You couldn’t say no to HIM!

We enjoyed too much to tell… The meeting the characters, dancing to songs, arts and crafts, designing T.Shirts, Katie, Justin, soft play, baby sensory, playing with dollies, all the play areas, the Science Museum, the literary tent… Oh my goodness! Talk about getting your monies worth!

Well organised, well thought out and well executed! Will we be back next year? Just try and stop us!

I have not been paid to write this post.
