We love to visit farms and have been very lucky to have been invited to review some absolutely brilliant ones for the blog. In one way it’s a shame that working farms have to make themselves a children’s attractions and diversify so greatly in order to survive but in another way, it’s often a much less expensive day out than a theme park and can be a wonderful family day.

Often the farms we visit are still working to some degree and usually are a very educational experience as well as being fun, fun, fun! The farm we visited yesterday was Hatton Country World in Warwickshire and combined elements of everything you could possibly want from a farm day trip. Actually, it doesn’t have to be JUST a day at Hatton as you can, in fact, camp on certain dates but we decided a day trip would be just the ticket for us!

Hatton Country World really is as the name suggests, a bit of a world really! When you arrive, the first thing you see is the Hatton Arms Pub just outside the lane that leads to the entrance. I didn’t visit the pub (mores the pity) but I hear very good things about it and it is certainly set in a beautiful surround. Fields and fields of rolling countryside are extremely picturesque, tranquill and synonymous with the whole of our Hatton day out. Quiet even though throngs of visitors are enjoying themselves and areas where all you can hear are the birds in the trees as you march across the fields in search of various different things depending on the time of year. In a nutshell, Hatton Country World is beautiful!

Once you have parked, or been dropped off by taxi as we had done (£8 and 5 minutes from Warwick Parkway Station) you get to walk through the eclectic farm and craft shops on your way to the farm entrance. There are also cafes and places to sit and chat. It was a beautifully hot day and there were lots of dappled shaded areas to sit and soak up the atmosphere if you wanted but with two excited children in tow we were all about the farm!

The Adventure Farm has differently structured prices for different events which run throughout the year but at the moment an adult is £12.95 and a child over two year’s old is £13.95 (under two’s FREE). At the moment it is Summer Spectacular time but they also have Halloween, Christmas, Easter events etc and you can become a member for a very reasonable price indeed.

We picked up some animal feed and were off! Included in the price is almost everything from indoor soft play where the cafe is to bouncy castles and fair ground rides. A couple of things are a little extra but you could easily avoid those things if you wanted to. There are shows in the children’s theatre running throughout the day, falconry displays, sheep races, sports day races, play ground equipment and more! There is of course the animals too don’t forget! We particularly enjoyed the ride on Tristan the Tractor and our pony ride (which cost £2.50). A beautiful family day with so much to do that it does warrant the price!

And then on to play time! LOTS of play time!

We had a fab day and can highly recommend it!
