Nostalgic Gardening With Grandparents! (#KidsGrowWild Challenge)

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

My beloved Grandpa was a keen gardener and I remember as a child being in his garden with him and him allowing me to water the flowers and help him potter.

Grandpa and Me
I was looking for a picture of me with Grandpa doing some gardening, there are many but my Mum is decorating and all the photos have been put in the loft. This is me and my lovely Grandpa though!

We haven’t until recently, had any outdoor space of our own so all of Florence and Jimmy’s gardening experiences have been in my Mum’s wonderful garden with her and as if like a tradition in our family, Florence now helps my Mum water her flowers. She loves nothing more than getting her green fingers on and doing a bit of planting while Jimmy watches on and plays with the garden toys.

We were recently sent an adorable gardening starter kit so that we could take part in the #KidsGrowWild challenge set by BritMums and record our experiences in the garden for our entry to the competition. It wasn’t something we had to think very long or hard about taking part in as this is simply just up our gardening street! With the kit in hand my Mum and Florence set about some time pottering in my Mum’s beautiful garden.

Before a little water which obviously had to be continued throughout the patio! She’s her Mother’s daughter alright!

My Mum is such an accomplished gardener; her space, which is huge is winding and gorgeous and eclectic. I can’t think of any more beautiful garden I know. She so enjoys being with her Grand children in her special idyllic garden and told me that a love of gardening, just as often is with cooking, is passed down through generations in families. Famous gardeners that she admires like Alan Titchmarsh, garden because they have green fingers running through their own families and I think my Mum loves that she can pass on some of her knowledge and passion to my children just as my Grandpa did with me.

This was a very enjoyable task and we hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what we got up to as much as we enjoyed taking part. We now have our own little outdoor space at home in London, a very kind man has leant us his plot of land which is opposite our house for the forseeable future and my Mum has recommended that we get some grow bags for Florence to plant up and enjoy – what a good idea! Perhaps you’ll see more gardening posts from us soon!
